Yin–Yang refers to the complementary polar qualities present in all phenomena.
They are not opposing substances, but interdependent aspects within a unified whole, continuously interacting and transforming.

Concept Explanation

【English】
Yin–Yang is one of the most fundamental and universal frameworks in classical Chinese thought.
Whenever phenomena enter the realm of movement and change, they naturally display yin–yang relationships.

Yin and yang are not fixed categories but relative, fluid, and transformable.
The same phenomenon may appear as yin or yang under different conditions; yin contains yang, and yang contains yin, maintaining a dynamic balance.

In Taichi practice and cultivation, yin–yang manifests as the coordination of inner and outer, upper and lower, movement and stillness, and fullness and emptiness.
The aim is not to favor one side, but to recognize and harmonize yin and yang so that the whole functions with balance and integrity.

Key Distinctions

Yin–Yang describes relational dynamics and principles of change, not rigid binary divisions.
